About me

Cesare Mecca is an Italian trumpeter born in 1996, known for his refined tone and his ability to move effortlessly between classical and jazz traditions. He began studying trumpet at the age of seven under Maestro Roberto Ferro at Filarmonica Bosconerese, later enrolling at the Conservatorio "G. Verdi” di Torino, where he studied classical trumpet with M° Paolo Russo and M° Roberto Rossi, while pursuing his secondary education in the sciences, achieving the bachelor and master’s degrees in classical trumpet.

Alongside his formal studies, Mecca developed a passion for jazz, joining the Filarmonica Jazz Band Pianezza under Maestro Sergio Chiricosta and studying jazz piano with Maestro Guido Canavese. His musical career has since flourished across both orchestral and jazz settings. Mecca has performed with the Conservatorio G. Verdi Symphonic Orchestra and the Brass Band Torino, and has appeared at major festivals including the Torino Jazz Festival, where he was selected to play on the main stage following a workshop by the Juilliard School.

Cesare continued his jazz studies in The Netherlands at Conservatorium van Amsterdam with M° Ruud Breuls, M° Jan Oosthof and M° Jarmo Hoogendijk, achieving the Jazz Trumpet Master’s degree, and later he also pursued his classical studies in Italy with M° Gilberto Martini.

Throughout his career he has played at festivals and venues such as: North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz, Torino Jazz Festival, Jazz in Sardegna, Blue Note Rio de Janeiro, Casa del Jazz di Roma, Ronnie’s Scott Jazz Club, Bimhuis Amsterdam, etc. He also had the opportunity to play and record with musicians such as: Bob Mintzer, John Clayton, Wycliffe Gordon, Aaron Parks, Ben Wendel, Gianni Cazzola, Riccardo Zegna, Dado Moroni, Flavio Boltro, Massimo Faraò, Byron Landham, Philiph Harper, Alfredo Ponissi, Emanuele Cisi, Jorge Rossi, and many others.

Blending the discipline of classical performance with the freedom of jazz improvisation, Mecca’s music reflects both technical mastery and emotional depth. His artistry continues to evolve, establishing him as one of the most promising young trumpeters on the Italian and international jazz scenes.

Sergio Chiricosta

His incredible talent was obvious from the moment I had the fortune and privilege of meeting him. Cesare was little more than a child, but he already possessed a perfectionist mentality and boundless passion. A healthy discipline in his studies helped him grow, from pimples to beard, always with this childlike, pure approach that leaves its mark on you when he's on stage! I only hope that his simplicity and perfectionism, qualities that, combined, have made him the great Cesare Mecca, will continue to help him grow, reaching the heights and successes for which he is surely destined!
